Cherish on the Cape by MK Meredith must be on your reading list, it will change your life forever. Cherish is raw, real, and hit home on a personal level. I imagine it will for many readers too. While this is the third book in her One the Cape series it can be read as a standalone. However, I highly recommend investing your time in this series, get to know the characters. It’s a trip you won’t regret taking :).
Claire Adams has spent the past few years living in an altered state of her planned future. A tragic accident instantly erased her plans and impacted her future. Despite her ability to deal with the loss, she still can’t open up her heart and find love. Is it possible that her friends know what’s best when it comes to her love life? Will she take their advice? The Cape is powerful and won’t let her give up on her dreams.
MK captured Claire’s emotions with dignity and navigated the loss of a child with sensitivity and compassion. The cast of characters were supportive, strong, and full of life. Each have their own obstacles to overcome and many do it with a sense of humor, and a wee bit of moonshine ;).
Mitch Brennan would give everything he has to the people of Cape Van Buren without hesitation. If only they could see beyond the mischievous teen he was, and the playboy man they think he’s become. There are so many layers to Mitch and the one I love the most is the way he honed in on what Claire needed to help her out without any expectation he’d get something in return. Some would say he’s hiding behind the rumors, but Claire is about to show Mitch that his future doesn’t have to be lived alone. One moment will prove that he’s got a heart of gold and an inner desire to be loved.
There is something familiar in the town of Cape Van Buren – the people, the landmarks and the overwhelming sense of comfort navigating through the streets. MK has written a tender and emotionally satisfying story of a woman who must learn to open her heart after a tragic loss. It will take trust and the ability to be vulnerable, we are ready for Claire to have her happy ending.
This book is a journey for anyone who is ready to embark on a coastal bookcation with characters that hook you in from the first page. Many people have said that the only thing standing in between you and your dreams is fear and this rings true throughout the story. Fear is toxic when you give it the power to destroy everything you desire. If Claire and Max can push beyond their own fears, their story will be one that’s talked about in Cape Van Buren for years to come!
