Baby Steps (Cross Springs Book 2) by Caren Crane is one of those books that you have to read. Connie Burns has finally decided that she needs to have a baby and her husband is absolutely baffled. They’ve been married over 15 years and that was one of the main reasons that they’ve worked so well, they both didn’t want children. Both have demanding careers and are satisfied with each other. So, when Connie wakes up one morning and decides that she’s finally ready to be a mom things start to change in more ways than one.

Connie’s maternal instinct affects her marriage, her relationship with her friends and her family. She’s got a fabulous job as a coveted real estate agent in her hometown and is battling an illness where a pregnancy could affect more than just her conceiving. The odds are stacked against her as she overcomes her obstacles on her journey toward parental bliss.

For her being an Aunt, Sister and friend isn’t enough and she begins to evaluate what it is that’s driven her to this point. We all face crossroads that challenge us and ultimately define our purpose. For Connie her mid-life crisis starts out with the need to conceive a baby and takes her on a journey of self discovery for both her and her husband Tim. Along the way she discovers that her enemies aren’t that terrifying and that there is good in everyone.
