MK Meredith writes single title contemporary romance novels which promise an emotional ride on heated sheets. A member of several writing groups, she believes the best route to success is to never stop learning.

She’s had a lifelong love affair with peanut butter — the only two things coming close in the battle for her affections are gorgeous heels, and maybe Gerard Butler…or was it David Gandy? Who is she kidding? Her true loves are her husband and two children who have survived her SEA’s (spontaneous explosions of affection) and live to tell the tale.

MK’s been reading romance long before she should have and can’t think of anything better than to fill her life with the promise of happily-ever-afters. When people ask, “Why romance?” She replies, “There is nothing more exhilarating than to write about one of the most powerful entities on earth. Love can be the fall of kingdoms and move mountains, destroy lives and create new life, inspire the dark and summon the light. Love is a challenge, a hope, and a miracle all wrapped into one. Love is life. I write about life.”

The Meredith’s live in the D.C. area with their two large fur babies…until the next adventure calls.

The Rule Book (Rule Breakers) by Jennifer Blackwood is the perfect accessary for your beach or pool bag! The creative genius that wrote the synopsis at Entangled is brilliant. It is the reason I wanted to read this book and take a peek into the offices of Starr Media. I needed to know what could happen if the rules weren’t followed.

While it’s impossible to live life without rules, Brogan Starr has created them to protect his best interests. Perhaps it’s a bit extreme, at the going length it’s a miracle he has any employees at at all.

Lainey has just been hired at Starr Media, the latest second assistant in a line of many. Will she last more than a few days? If only she didn’t start off by breaking a few rules. Which one? Nope, not going to tell you. It will take a strong person to help Brogan realize there is more to life than rules, will it be Lainey? Sometimes the rules are meant to be broken, just don’t let the boss catch you.

A dominating control freak, texts, tension and laugh out loud goodness are packed into this spicy read. Don’t be surprised if you find a sudden urge to watch a movie after you’re done or take a dog for a walk, even if you don’t own one!

I received this ARC from the publisher for a fair and honest review as part of The Rule Book Blog Tour hosted by IndieSage PR. I must give a quick note of thanks to IndieSage PR – they were fantastic!

Now see for yourself why this must read book should be added to your e-reader today! I’m looking forward to the next book in this series…I hope Zoey is next!

Excerpt:

Waterfront Seattle was devoid of the usual hustle and bustle at six in the morning. Much like Portland, a lot of the active business professionals ran along the water. The November chill cut straight through my bones until we were well into our second mile along the bay.

Zoey hated running—something I never understood because she was always so excited up until the point our feet hit the pavement—and she was puffing along with short, shallow breaths.

I’d run cross-country in high school and college, and when I ran, everything fell into perspective. I hadn’t been able to get out all week because of my crazy schedule, and the twitchy desire to let off steam had become so bad that I was willing to sacrifice an extra hour of sleep for some much needed exercise.

I was contemplating my goal of finding another deal on Black Friday in a few weeks when Zoey elbowed me in the ribs. I tore out one earphone and shot her a look. “What?”

“Look at that tall, dark, and give me some of this.” She nodded toward a man running toward us, and I fumbled a few steps.

No.

Why?

Of all the spots in the city at the crack of dawn, not just any tall, hot guy was running my way. No, that would be totally awesome and fair of the universe. This man with the sweat soaked gray T-shirt, the material plastered to a set of nicely toned abs, was none other than the friendly neighborhood anti-antichrist.

A dog loped beside him, pulling at the leash to go faster. At my estimation, we’d intersect in the span of fifty steps.

Crap. I knew it was pure coincidence, running (oh, the irony) into him on a morning jog, but my personal vanity would not allow him to see me in such a disheveled pre- makeup, pre-hair-taming state.
This chance meeting could not happen—no, would not happen—if I could help it. I pushed Zoey off the paved path and into a grassy area with a few large oak trees and waist- high shrubs.

We were well-hidden from view when she asked, “What the hell?”

“That’s my boss.” I whispered.

“The Antichrist?” She moved to peer around the tree, and I grabbed her shoulders and pulled her back.

She let out an exasperated sigh and threw her arms out to the side. “Come on. He doesn’t know what I look like. Why can’t I take a little looksee?”

“Because someone staring at you from behind a tree is creepy.”

She raised a brow. “So is hiding from your boss behind a tree,” she deadpanned.

“Touché, but I’m willing to let that one slide if you are.”

“Yeah, that’s not going to happen any time this decade.” She peered around the tree again and let out a low whistle. “I’d totally hit that if I were you.”

“Rule book,” I reminded her. Which he expected everyone to stick to. Everyone but himself, apparently.

“Screw the rule book. Maybe he could even smack your ass with it.”

I chuckled. “You’re sick.”

She wagged a finger at me. “Resourceful.

I feel lucky to have Cathryn answer a few questions for this tour.

Get to know Cathryn….

Rae: What an honor to be a launch author for Scorched Imprint from Entangled. How did that come about?

Cathryn: I was thrilled to be asked to be a launch author. I remember the day vividly. Last September hubby and I took a mini-vacation to New Hampshire and stayed at a resort in the White Mountains. I received an email from my editor asking if she could call. My first thought, oh no, what have I done now. LOL. When she told me about Scorched I was thrilled and honored. I was asked to be a launch author because I tend to write on the hotter side, even for the Brazen imprint.

Rae:  What is a must read book and why?

Cathryn: If you like a dirty talking, panty-melting millionaire, then this book is for you! I was allowed to amp up the sex, give him a potty mouth, and really experiment with…well, naughty things. 🙂

Rae:  What is one place that I should see if I visit your hometown?

Cathryn: I live in beautiful Nova Scotia and there are SO many places to see, but if you love the ocean I would recommend Peggy’s Cove. It’s gorgeous. https://www.peggyscove.ca

Rae: What is one thing that readers would be surprised to know about you?

Cathryn:  I love to dance. As soon as I hear music I want to dance. (which leads to the next question and why I can’t write to music!)

Rae:  What is on your playlist while you write?

Cathryn:  Not a thing. I can’t write to music. I find myself singing and dancing along. Actually, I really need silence and there is a man across my street who stands in his yard for hours whistling. Drives me crazy, so I have to use noise-cancelling headphone. High maintenance much? LOL

Rae: Binge watcher or weekly viewer?

Cathryn: Both, actually. I’ve been taping all of Outlander so I can binge watch, yet other series like Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, I watch on a regular basis.

Rae: If you could invite 5 people to dinner (not friends and family) living or deceased, who would it be?

Cathryn: Meredith Wild, J.K. Rowling, Diane Lane, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pratt. (How’s that for an eclectic mix)

Rae: If you could try any career, what would it be?

Cathryn: Astronaut! I would love to see Earth from space!

Rae: Where can readers find you this year? Will you be attending any conferences?

Cathryn:  I just attended Romancing the Capital in Ottawa, Canada, and will be again next year in August. I will also be attending NINC conference in St Pete’s Florida in September.

Online I can be found here.

Rae: When you begin a new book what is your process? Do you have a writing group or disappear to a writers retreat?

Cathryn: I do my outline, and set 1000 word a day goal for the first week because openings are hard for me. After that I set 2000 word goals. I write alone, in my office. I have friends who get together at coffee shops to write, but I can’t seem to do that.

Rae: Thanks for spending time today on the blog!

Happy Book Birthday For Seven Nights Only by Sarah Ballance

%name Happy Book Birthday For Seven Nights Only by Sarah Ballance

For Seven Nights Only (Chase Brothers Book 2) by Sarah Ballance is the perfect way to start the work week. What could be better than a book about conquering fear and accepting that not everything you do will result in failure, especially when it comes to love.

Kelsie Reed is having a tough go at finding love. When an accident in her apartment building results with Sawyer Chase coming to her aide, will she accept his help or come up with a plan of her own?

Sawyer Chase is drawn to Kelsie and wants to help her. After the awkward and hilarious first encounter there is something there. But, neither one are ready to admit there might be something more. If Kelsie will agree to seven dates with Sawyer, she might be able to reinvent herself and have men knocking down her door. A welcome change from them running away. I love our hero!

Sawyer is content with no commitments until Kelsie gets into his system and he’s unable to shake her out of it. What will he do when he realizes she’s exactly what he’s been looking for? Will the family business survive without him? Will he measure up to his reputation?

Both have a few obstacles to overcome, their own fears and concerns to work through. Kelsie’s priority is finding a date for her sister’s wedding? The stress and drama surrounding the wedding is what’s pushing her to tackle her “problems.” Will Sawyer overcome his phobia at the expense of loosing Kelsie forever?

Once again, Sarah Balance delivers characters are real and completely charming. I’m so in love with the Chase brothers and the rest of the characters their paths cross. As soon as you’re finished, I challenge you to tackle your own fears. It’s not easy to admit you’re afraid or have something to improve. However, when you find someone you trust that is willing to help you work through it, it’s amazing what you can accomplish. Kelsie is a lucky girl and Sawyer is about to find out what he’s been missing.

While Sarah’s book can be read as a standalone, this sexy and flirty- fun book is the second installment in a must read series. These characters are witty, creative and willing to go outside the box for love. The perfect recipe for this contemporary romance.

This two peppers spicy latte hot %name Happy Book Birthday For Seven Nights Only by Sarah Ballancedelight has just enough sizzle to make you tingle. Oh, and yes, it’s for  mature readers 18+.
