Rae: What genre(s) do you write and what are you currently working on?
Siera: I write books about hope, self-determination, and agency revealed through a growing bond of physical and emotional intimacy. Basically, romance with sex on the page, lol. Currently, I’m writing Book 3 in the Calvary Brothers romantic comedy series.
Laramie: I write small-town, blue collar romance. Regular people with regular lives; dates in a pickup truck to watch the stars, bonfire nights with family, fishing and crabbing on the Bay. There’s some angst with tones of mental health, but all have HEAs. I’m currently working on book 6 in the Southern Maryland Songs series.
S.E.: I write romcom, contemporary romance, and romantic suspense. I’m currently working on a few projects, including two new short stories for anthologies that will be published in 2027.
K.C.: I write blue-collar Southern romances where the women are strong, the men are steady, and love shows up when it’s least expected. Right now, I’m working on a novel about what happens when a girl’s wine night and a little Facebook Dating experiment “just for kicks and giggles” turn into an unexpected romance.
Carey: I write Contemporary Romance, PNR, Romantic Suspense, and Rom-com. Currently, I’m working on Book 5 of my Nightshade series, Night Vengeance as well as planning out a new small town rom-com series with some suspense nuances.
Rae: What is your favorite decade?
Siera: My favorite decade… of course, the one where I’m alive! But, the Motown sound of the 1970s, 80s rock n’ roll, and the classic hip hop with a message about everyday struggles of the 90s.
Laramie: Maybe the1970s hippie culture. One of my characters (Joie in “Home”) is a wild child, free range, sunshine girl.
S. E.: The 90s! LOL – Does that show my age? Hehe. Mostly, I loved the music and pop culture of the 90s. So many good television shows and movies!
K.C.: I’m definitely a ’90s kind of girl. There’s just something about that era that feels like home. When it comes to writing, though, I love creating characters who are either in their New Adult/college years or navigating life, love, and second chances in their 30s and 40s.
Carey: Why choose one? When it comes to music and movies, I love the 80’s and 90’s.
Rae: What five things do you have to pack when attending a conference?
Siera: Full discourse, I have a “go bag”. There’s always a 6 foot surge protector with multiple USB-C ports, a portable battery pack, and my iPad Air on hand. And, because I travel too much and know what can go wrong, will; there’s a mini-roll of bathroom tissue, a disposable washcloth, and a tooth brush in the zipper pocket.
Laramie: 5 things I pack. I tend to over pack for “just-in-case”. I definitely bring my body pillow for hotel sleeping, a hand fan and a shawl (you never know who’s controlling the temperature of the signing room), Kindle (I always have a book handy to read), note cards, and stickers.
S. E.: That’s a great question. Books, swag, the credit card adapter for my phone, my pop-up banner, and plenty of pens.
K.C.: Cheez-Its, swag, a phone charger, a mechanical pencil (because I absolutely refuse to take notes with a pen), and books. Lots and lots of books.
Carey: Books, table setup, a new outfit for signing day, my laptop for impromptu writing sprints, and a workout outfit that I usually don’t end up using.
Rae: What is your snack attack must haves in your day bag?
Siera: Raisins! We have a love-hate relationship. My waistline hates the sugar, but my tastebuds surrender at the sight of their glistening, deep brown wrinkled bellies.
Laramie: snacks? mixed nuts and flavored water.
S.E.: This is mood dependent for me. I usually try to pretty something sweet and something salty, like chocolate and chips.
K.C.: Cheez-Its or saltines. I’m pretty basic when it comes to snacks.
Carey: Chocolate-covered almonds, grapes, sour candy, preferably Sour Patch Kids, and Old Fashioned BBQ Lays potato chips or buttery popcorn.
Rae: What’s the one thing you forget to pack and swear to remember next time?
Siera: I always FORGET to pack a sweater. My husband, literally, has to carry a back up jacket because I have a mental block when it relates to outwear.
Laramie: Forgotten item? Well this is where the over packing comes in handy. I’m not sure I’ve forgotten anything yet. I’m working on being a more efficient and just bringing the essentials
S.E.: The CORRECT credit card adapter! I once switched phones and forgot to pack the new credit card adapter for my new phone. I was super lucky that a fellow author had an extra adapter that fit my phone. So now I always double check that!
K.C.: Without fail, it’s usually either my phone charger or my portable backup charger. You’d think I’d have learned my lesson by now, but guess not.
Carey: A swimsuit. If I remember it, I never use it. If I forget it, I somehow end up sitting by a poolside.
Thank you so much authors! If you are an attending author or industry professional and you want to join in on the fun please e-mail me and we’ll be sure to add you on a future post!
I’ll be keeping a running list and will post a master packing list a week before #SaSS26 Richmond. I’ll see you soon for new authors and more ideas!

Born and raised in small town Northern Ontario, Canada, award-winning author, Carey Decevito has had a penchant for reading and writing for as long as she can remember.
As an adult however, more than a decade had come to pass before sleepless nights plagued her with exhaustion, demanding that she put pen to paper (more like fingers to keyboard) and start writing again.
And the rest, as they say, is history!
A writer of erotic romance, paranormal romance, and romantic suspense, this lover of food will throw in a bit of heat, a dash of sass, a pinch of comedy, and a dollop of real-life experience in order to provide her readers with a story that will mess with their emotions from start to finish.
Family and friends are her lifeblood but Carey also enjoys conquering the outdoors, sports, traveling, and playing tourist in Canada’s National Capital region. When life gets crazy, she seeks respite through her writing and submersing herself in the latest addition to her library. If all else fails, she knows there’s never a dull moment with her two daughters, her goofy husband and their dog who she swears is out to get her.
