Matzah Ball Compressed 169x300 Book Review: Matzah Ball Surprise by Laura BrownMatzah Ball Surprise by Laura Brown is a delightful Passover romcom written in own voice by an author who is hard of hearing.

When Gaby decides her only option to survive Passover is to bring a fake date to her parents Seder, the adventure begins. One leap of faith will change her life forever when she asks a stranger for help.

Levi has his own share of family obligations and expectations, so when he is asked to be her plus one at a family seder, he agrees giving him the perfect opportunity to avoid his own responsibilities. What will happen when both leave out details regarding their past?

Will Gaby or Levi be able to handle the rapid-fire questions not part of the regular Haggadah text? Who will believe their romance is real? What will happen when they have to stay in a room with one bed? So many secrets and lots of room for blunders.

Levi and Gaby have great chemistry and the secondary characters add extra layers of charm that provide uncontrolled laughter, a few tears, and reassurance we all have at least one relative that is a little meshugana. IYKYK.

Embrace who you are, recognizing and accepting that only your own opinions truly matter, and love does not care if you can hear, are hard of hearing, or deaf.

3 Flames 84x150 Book Review: Matzah Ball Surprise by Laura BrownLaura uses creative dialogue to shift between ASL and spoken narrative, adds layers of banter and tension with a little bit of spice. There is a nice balance between helping to rise above obligations, and a whole lot of shenanigans that make this spicy standalone a must read.

*I received an ARC from the publisher for a fair and honest review*
